Landscapers are often required to make surface area estimations when estimating the size of interior floors, exterior yard space, etc. Here is the square footage of some common spaces.
TIP: A standard sheet of paper is 8.5″ x 11″, which is just 1 inch shy of a foot. Therefore, holding two sheets of paper so that they overlap in an L shape, gives you an area of 11″ x 11″ or almost 1 sq ft. That’s almost the size of a large (1 ft x 1 ft) floor tile.
Square Footage

- 1/2 Acre = 21,780 sq. ft.
- 1 Acre = 43,560 sq. ft.
- Football Field = 57,600 sq. ft. (includes 10 yard end zones)
